Improve communication with teachers and schools. Workshop exercises: 1) List one concern and one strength about the child’s school experience. 2) Draft three respectful questions for the teacher. 3) Ask the child what they want adults to understand. 4) Agree on a follow-up plan.
Model collaborative advocacy. Avoid discussing teachers contemptuously in front of children while still taking concerns seriously.
